About the Courses
- Level and Structure: Courses are designed as 300-level upper-division undergraduate courses, equivalent to 3.0 U.S. semester credit hours (6.0 ECTS or Australian credits).
- Content: Each course includes 48 academic hours, a mix of in-class instruction and technical visits to local companies and organizations, enriching the learning experience with real-world applications.
- Syllabi: Detailed syllabi are available on our website under "Courses in Brazil" or "Courses in Europe". These documents outline course objectives, topics, and learning outcomes.
Transcripts and Certificates
Upon completing the program:
- The host university (ESPM, IQS, or UNYP) will issue transcripts and a signed certificate of participation.
- These documents are sent in a sealed envelope directly to your home university or any specified recipient.
- Digital copies can also be emailed upon request.
Before Going Abroad
To ensure a smooth credit transfer process:
- Gather Documentation: Print this page and download the PDF course syllabi for the courses you plan to take.
- Meet Your Advisors:
- Visit your study abroad office with the program details and partner university information. They will guide you through credit transfer and financial aid processes.
- Meet with your academic advisor to determine how these courses align with your academic plan and degree requirements.
- Be Persistent: Advisors may be unfamiliar with Summit. Share detailed program and university information, and don’t hesitate to seek assistance from our team if questions arise.
After Returning Home
- Request Transcripts: Upon completion, Summit will coordinate transcript requests with the host university. Ensure we have the correct contact details for your home institution (email, physical address, and phone).
- Finalize Payments: Ensure all program fees are paid in full; transcripts cannot be issued until payments are complete.
- Follow Up: If you do not receive transcripts within a reasonable time, contact Summit for assistance. We will work directly with the host university to resolve any issues.
Types of Credit Transfers
- General Credits:
These can fulfill elective or general degree requirements. Even if not required for graduation, international credits can strengthen your resume and set you apart in the job market. - Major Credits:
If seeking credits within your major, follow these steps:- Review your academic plan and identify remaining requirements.
- Compare these requirements to the courses offered by Summit.
- Bring the course syllabi and detailed program information to your academic advisor to discuss potential course substitutions or adjustments.
