Accommodations
(Brazil May-June 2016)

  • Accommodations included in the prices listed here.
  • In Rio, the standard housing option is in apartments in the Ipanema neighborhood.  In Sao Paulo, we are in a hotel in "Jardim Paulista", and in Paraty (which is a UNESCO World Heritage candidate site), we stay in a bed and breakfast just outside of the historical district.
Roommates:
  • Summit will make every attempt to honor roommate requests if you have a friend you want to live with while abroad.
Rio de Janeiro
Safe Neighborhoods:
  • In Rio, we only stay in Ipanema, Leblon or Arpoador neighborhoods.  These are very safe and upscale parts of town, surrounded by beaches, nightlife, shopping, restaurants, public transportation and more... all within walking distance.
  • See our note about Health and Safety

Rio: Apartments, Flats, "Residence hotels"
  • Private apartments in Ipanema, Leblon or Arpoador neighborhoods
  • There will be 3 to 4 students to an apartment.
  • All apartments will have a private bathroom.
  • Breakfast is normally NOT included, but will have a fully-equipped kitchen included to help you save money in your budgeting.
  • Most will have free (or inexpensive) WiFi you can purchase

Options:
  • Size, and quality of the apartments varies depending on availability.  These are not intended to be luxurious, but should be comfortable and safe places to stay while studying in Brazil.

Previous programs: July 2013
  • Students stayed at the "Ipanema Residencia":
  • Address:  Rua Barão da Torre 192, IPANEMA - RJ
  • Phone:  (55) 21- 3125 5000

Sao Paulo:
Where you stay in Sao Paulo makes all the difference, and so we stay in an excellent neighborhood.  In the past, our hotel of choice has been the Pestana Sao Paulo hotel in the 'Jardins' (or garden) district of Sao Paulo, within walking distance from the famous Avenida Paulista and the upscale Oscar Freire shopping road.
