About Brazil:
Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America and one of the world’s most dynamic emerging markets. It is a country of scale and contrast, where modern business districts rise alongside historic neighborhoods, and innovation often grows out of the intersections of culture, necessity, and creativity.
Studying abroad in Brazil with Summit connects accredited coursework to the people, industries, and ideas shaping this rapidly evolving economy. In São Paulo, students engage with startups and global companies driving growth across Latin America. In Rio de Janeiro, they explore the role of culture and creative industries in shaping business and society.
Beyond the classroom, students experience the daily life that defines Brazil — from neighborhood markets and street culture to live music and coastal landscapes. Each city becomes both a classroom and a community, offering perspective on how culture, economy, and innovation intersect in a country with global influence.

Rio de Janeiro is known worldwide for its dramatic landscapes and vibrant culture, but it is also a hub for Brazil’s creative industries and urban innovation. The city brings together tradition and modernity, making it an ideal setting to study how culture and economy shape one another. With Summit, students see both sides of Rio: the iconic landmarks and the local perspectives that come from engaging with entrepreneurs, designers, and community leaders. Coursework is enriched by site visits, guided exploration, and cultural experiences that turn the city itself into a classroom. |
Paraty (Green Coast)

A town of about 30,000 on Brazil's Costa Verde ("green coast"), Paraty sits about halfway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The 17th century city fell into decline but was rediscovered by artists and creative entrepreneurs about a decade ago. Since then, Paraty has become a leader in sustainable tourism development, and has been short-listed for UNESCO World Heritage recognition, not just for its beautiful historical Portuguese colonial architecture, but also because of its extreme natural beauty of white sand beaches. Paraty is a coastal town where history and sustainability intersect. Its preserved colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and artistic community offer a slower pace — but also a clear view of how culture and environment can work together. Here, you might join discussions on eco-tourism with local entrepreneurs, explore protected coastal ecosystems, or study how heritage preservation fuels economic development. Outside of class, Paraty’s beaches, trails, and island boat rides offer a balance of reflection and discovery. |

To understand Brazil, you have to know São Paulo. It is the country’s largest city and a global crossroads where business, culture, and creativity collide. The city is also one of the world’s most dynamic cultural centers. Live music, diverse food markets, world-class museums, theaters, and a thriving nightlife reflect the scale and diversity of its 20 million residents. São Paulo is Brazil’s innovation engine. It hosts Latin America’s largest concentration of startups and serves as the region’s leading hub for finance, technology, and policy. Every neighborhood feels like its own world, and together they drive the country’s economic momentum. With Summit, students experience both the professional and cultural sides of the city. Visits to fintech accelerators, policy networks, and startup founders are paired with exploration of street art corridors, markets, and music venues — turning São Paulo into a living classroom where culture and commerce are inseparable. |
