Keeping Healthy while abroad:
SAFETY ISSUES:
How Summit Ensures Student Safety At Summit Global Education, we prioritize student health and safety through a combination of careful planning, ongoing communication, and on-the-ground support.
In the Event of an Emergency: Summit Global Education’s programs are designed to adapt to a range of emergency scenarios, including unforeseen events such as natural disasters or other safety concerns. While incidents like terrorism are extremely rare, we remain prepared to respond quickly and effectively should such a situation arise. Our flexible multi-city itineraries allow us to adjust plans as needed, prioritizing student safety while maintaining program continuity. Any such decisions are guided by trusted sources, including the U.S. State Department, OSAC, and local experts on the ground. If a travel warning or evacuation order is issued, Summit will implement our Evacuation Procedure, ensuring students’ safety while coordinating transportation, accommodations, and academic continuity. Change of Itinerary Procedure In the unlikely event of an emergency in one of our scheduled cities, Summit programs are designed to adapt while ensuring the safety and continuity of the experience. If a city becomes unsafe, we may adjust the itinerary to spend more time in other cities already included in the program. This flexibility is one of the advantages of our multi-city approach, allowing students to continue learning and exploring in a secure environment. Adjustments are guided by trusted information from the U.S. State Department, OSAC, and local experts on the ground. While our decisions prioritize student safety, we also ensure that adjustments are carefully considered to maintain the quality and integrity of the program. Evacuation Procedure If the U.S. State Department issues a Travel Warning recommending evacuation, Summit will prioritize student safety by:
Summit will communicate with parents, home institutions, and other stakeholders to keep them informed of students’ whereabouts and well-being throughout the process. Academic Continuity In the event of a program disruption, Summit will work with host universities to ensure students can complete coursework through alternative locations or remote arrangements. If completing the academic portion of the program is not possible, Summit will attempt to recover and refund tuition and any other recoverable program costs.
