Accommodations Options 

Rio de Janeiro:
  • The standard option for housing in Rio de Janeiro is APARTMENTS (which include a kitchen) in a Ipanema, a nice neighborhood with easy walking to the beach, shopping, and public transportation.
  • For students on a tight budget, we do also offer two options:  1) the "Pousada (Guest House) option"  - students may elect this option for an $500 discount off of the prices listed above, or 2) No housing in Rio - students may elect to NOT use the housing provided by Summit in Rio.  This option is only recommended for students with previous experience in Brazil.  Students that arrange their own accommodations in Rio may deduct $1000 from the prices above.
In Paraty and in Sao Paulo
  • All students have same housing option - pousadas in Paraty, hotels in Sao Paulo

Two courses, up to 6 credits
  • Students in our "Summer" Intersession program in Brazil can take two academic courses from ESPM, the #1 ranked Marketing and Communications school in Brazil.

Tuition and University Registration
  • All SGE program prices cover the cost of tuition and basic fees at the host institution. Before your departure, SGE also offers you advice on how to ensure proper transfer of the college credits you will earn abroad.  Our Academic Relations Team will work with you and your school regarding credit transfer.

Housing Assistance
  • Because SGE understands where you live while abroad is one of the most important parts of your experience, we will offer you housing options in attractive parts of town.  See our website for more specific information about accommodations.
  • SGE will make every attempt to honor roommate requests if you have a friend you want to live with while abroad.
  • Apartments in Rio have fully-equipped kitchen included to help you save money in your budgeting

Professional Visits
  • Students that attend the SGE event in Brazil will have many professional visits to Brazilian and International companies, which will provide them with not just a chance to gain valuable insight into the economy, but also networking opportunities with professionals and executives.  Throughout the program, we expect to have guest lectures from professionals at leading Brazilian companies and organizations.

TRAVEL - Excursions:
  • The students in Sessions A2 and A3 will be invited to travel with professors from Rio de Janeiro to Paraty (along the "Green Coast") and on to Sao Paulo.  See our detailed itinerary
  • Bus transport and accommodations are included in the program price for these sessions.
  • For all students in all sessions - Summit Global Education will encourage students to take advantage of the Saturday afternoons & full days on Sundays to explore some of the nearby beaches and neighborhoods.  Summit staff onsite will be available to help students plan these optional travel and extra activities.

  • Our goal is to personally get to know each student, and to offer personalized advising: helping students not only select the best program and courses, but also offering advice about daily life abroad.  
  • Advising on the credit transfer process at your home university.

Airport Reception
  • On the start date of your program, you'll be greeted at the airport by a friendly Summit representative who will offer you a brief orientation, and help arrange transport you to your accommodations.  See the "detailed itinerary" page for information about dates and times available for this service.

Onsite Orientation
  • We will provide you a comprehensive orientation with useful insider tips and advice to help you adjust to your new environment.
  • Activities to get to know the other students on your program (we will also try to organize events for you to get to know local students as well!)
  • Advice on safety and getting around in your new city

Pre-Departure Assistance
  • Summit Global Education is committed to helping both you and your parents feel prepared for your study abroad experience.
  • Pre-Departure Packet with information on what to pack, climate, culture shock, local customs, safety, travel suggestions, and much more

Budgeting assistance

  • International Airfare (estimate $1000 from East Coast USA)

  • Textbooks (estimate $100)
  • Weekend trips and evening activities
  • Food, entertainment, shopping  - with a currency exchange rate of almost 2:1 to the US dollar, most students from the US will be pleasantly rewarded by dividing all prices in half to get the prices in dollars.  (See this online cost estimator for Rio, and dont forget to divide by 2 to estimate prices in dollars!)
